Announcements for December 26
Altar flowers are given to the glory of God and in honor of the birth of our Savior and in honor of Judy Truax always willing to help when we need her by Don Alcorn.
Thank you, children, youth, and grown-ups for your time and effort in a wonderful presentation of the Nativity last Sunday afternoon. It was a wonderful presentation!
We have all seen pictures and newscasts on the devastation in southern Kentucky. The ELCA has set up a special disaster relief fund. Should you want to continue to contribute, please mark your contribution as such when you put it in the Offering Plate. Thank You!
There are many unfortunate people who need our help during this Christmas Season. Please help out with your donations to Sharing God’s Love. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Please make sure that when you are the last person to leave our facilities, that all doors are locked! Your help in this will be greatly appreciated.
I want to thank you for your most generous gift last Sunday afternoon! You folks have become a family for me and I love each and everyone of you. It is a pleasure to minister to God’s people at St. John’s as you minister to me! You make it a joy to be God’s servant. I wish for you a very merry, loving, and meaningful Christmas! May God be with you during this season of joy!
Quote of the Week
“While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. – Luke 2:6-7

No flower says Christmas like the beautiful Poinsettia. The flower gets its name from Joel Roberts Poinsett, a South Carolinian who served in the state legislature and the U.S. House of Representatives. He was also a physician and the first U.S. Minister to Mexico. A native of Mexico, the flower is actually a perennial shrub that will grow 10-15 feet tall. The plant is known in Mexico as “La Flor de la Nochebuena”, or Flower of the Holy Night, or Christmas Eve. In Spain the Poinsettia has a different holiday attribution. It is known there is “Flor de Pascua”, or Easter flower. No doubt it is one of the most decorative flowers for Christmas.
The Poinsettias are given to the glory of God in celebration of the birth of our Savior, Jesus, the Christ!
