Announcements for June 8 2025

ALTAR FLOWERS
The altar flowers are given to the glory of God and in honor of the five young people being confirmed today (Gabe Kesler, Elizabeth Koen, Haley Koen, Isabelle Koen, and Kaylie Moore) by Jim and Bonnie Stevens.

CHURCH CLEANING
Volunteers are needed to clean the buildings in June and for most of the remaining months in 2025. Many activities are scheduled in June, so there is a greater need for volunteers. If you can assist for a week or two during the month, others can share the responsibilities for the other weeks. A signup sheet is in the narthex, or you may call or email the church office..

CONFIRMATION
June 8th is Pentecost, and today we will confirm Gabe Kesler, Elizabeth Koen, Haley Koen, Isabelle Koen and Kaylie Moore as voting members of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Following the service there will be a lunch catered by Dupre Catering and Events compliments of Fred and Angie Koen. Please join us as we celebrate these five wonderful young people.

FAVORITE HYMNS
Last month, our musician, Don Alcorn asked us to let him know some of our favorite hymns. There are little blue cards in the church entrance. Please fill them out and drop them in the offering plate so that we will be able to incorporate your favorite hymns into our worship service.

ROOFING PROJECT
Mays Contracting completed the roofing project on May 2o, 2025 for a total cost of $56,519. Donations toward this project are welcomed to reduce the $12,579, that must be funded from savings. Please note “Roofing Project” in the memo section of your check or through online giving. Thank you to those who have already donated a total of $2,050.00 through June 1, 2025.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
A total of 9 students participated in VBS this week. Eight of our middle and high school youth assisted with activities during the week. The theme was Road Trip: On the Go with God. Youth who attended camp at Lutheridge last year led everyone in singing some of their favorite camp songs, in addition to VBS songs.

The program ended on Thursday, June 5th with a VBS celebration. Children sang songs, showed the crafts they had created and read scripts which summarized the stories they had learned. Our traditional hotdog supper ended a great week.

2025 SOUTH CAROLINA SYNOD ASSEMBLY
This year the SC Synod is celebrating 200 Years of Gospel Mission as the Lutheran Church in South Carolina.

Our thanks to Don Alcorn and Jan Samson for representing St. John’s at the assembly this year. Pastor Michele will also be attending, and she will not be in the office on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
