Announcements for November 9, 2025

VETERANS DAY
Thank You For Your Service
We honor our veterans for their courage, sacrifice, and commitment. We thank those who have served, and we pray for peace in our nation and the world.

BIBLE STUDY
Bible study is held on most Wednesday mornings at 10:30 A.M. in the Education Building. The study will resume with Chapter 10 of the Book of Job on Wednesday, November 12.

MINI-VBS
St. John’s will offer another Mini-VBS from noon until 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 13. The children will be offered lunch at about 12:30 P.M. Through playing and arts and crafts, the kids will learn about the birth of Jesus in preparation for Advent and Christmas. Parents must provide transportation.

Please let the church office know if you have children or grandchildren who will attend. Volunteers who can help for an hour or more are always welcome.

PASTOR MICHELE
Pastor Michele will be back from New Hampshire late tomorrow afternoon. Pastor Ron Philabaum (Mt. Horeb, Chapin) is on call in case of an emergency, and Council members have his contact information.

FALL WORKDAY
Please join us on Saturday, November 15 from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. to contribute your time and talents for another day of work and fellowship at St. John’s. We have added a few items to the list since our spring workday, but we’d also like to complete some of the projects that we started in the spring. A few examples of tasks we hope to accomplish are shown below:
 Install NEST thermostat (already purchased) in the Education building
 Disconnect the alarm system in the Education building and the Fellowship Hall
 Inventory the handbells and associated equipment and supplies
 Repair damaged sprinkler system connections near back corner of Fellowship Hall
 Replace the light fixture in the breezeway
 Continue organizing the cabinet in the back room of the church
 Continue organizing craft materials, games, books, and other supplies in Education building
 Clean windows
 Pull weeds in prayer garden and other beds around the facilities
 Apply fire ant killer

The complete list of tasks needing attention along with the list of items that have been completed is posted on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall. Please look at the list of uncompleted items and volunteer for any of these tasks so that needed supplies can be purchased prior to November 15. If you’re unable to help on November 15, please consider volunteering when your schedule permits. Thanks to all who continue working diligently to maintain St. John’s facilities.

CONFIRMATION CLASS
The next Confirmation class is Sunday, November 16 from 12:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. Youth are strongly encouraged to attend worship at 11:00 A.M., bring a bag lunch and water bottle. The topic is Holy Communion.

NOISY OFFERINGS
The noisy offerings collected on November 16 and December 21 will benefit Families Helping Families of the Midlands, a partnership between the nonprofit Palmetto Project and WIS News 10. For 35 years Families Helping Families has provided the magic of the holiday season to thousands of Midlands families with children, senior citizens, and adults with disabilities in need.

JOINT THANKSGIVING SERVICE
St. John’s will join Shady Grove UMC to celebrate Thanksgiving on Sunday, November 23rd at 6:00 P.M. at their church. Pastor Michele will preach, and the service will be followed by dinner.
