Announcements for April 26, 2026

YOUTH GROUP
The Youth Group, which is open to students in grades 6 through 12, will go to Flight Adventure Park next Sunday, May 3rd. The Youth will meet after church for lunch and then head over to the trampoline park for an hour. Please RSVP this week, so we will know how many youth to expect.

In order to participate, the Park requires that all youth have their parents sign waivers. Also, SkySocks, which have rubberized grips on the bottom, are required. If you have SkySocks that were purchased during a previous trip to the park, please bring them with you. Socks will be purchased for those who don’t have any, and the socks purchased for this event will be collected at the end of the day for future use.  

LMM FISH FRY
It’s time for St. John’s Lutheran Men in Mission (LMM)’s semi-annual fish fry to be held in the Fellowship Hall.

Date: Thursday, May 7, 2026
Time: Take-out service begins at 5:30 P.M.
Seated dinner begins at 6:00 P.M.
Cost: $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for kids age 10 and under
Menu: Catfish stew, fried fish, and grits
Special Guests: Sheriff Leon Lott, deputies, and dogs!
The women of St. John’s are asked to provide desserts.

CONFIRMATION SUNDAY
May 24th is Pentecost, and four of our youthful members (Andrew Bateman, Paige Koen, Alaina Matthews, and Caleb McKinney) will be confirmed. Following the worship service, we will have a reception for these teens. A sign-up sheet for food is posted on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall. Fried chicken and a sheet cake will be provided, but other items are needed for the meal.

HEARTLAND LUTHERAN MEN IN MISSION QUARTERLY MEETING
The Heartland Lutheran Men in Mission’s quarterly meeting will be held at Pomaria Lutheran Church at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 28, 2026. The meal will be catered by Wise’s Bar-B-Q House. The menu will consist of country fried steak, green beans, rice and gravy, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, banana pudding, and tea. The cost of the meal is $16 per person.

STORYTIME AT POMARIA
St. John’s will assist in the collection of new or gently used children’s books for ages 0–5 to support a new community program in Pomaria. Storytime at Pomaria will begin in June, offering two weekly story time sessions for children from birth through Pre-K.

The goal of this program is to introduce young children to the joy and wonder of reading while helping prepare them for the transition to school. As part of this program, each child will be allowed to choose a book to take home and keep.

Donations of non-religious books, free of controversial subjects, will be collected between now and May 13 in boxes available on the stage in the fellowship hall and in the narthex of the church. Thank you for helping nurture a love of reading in Pomaria’s youngest learners!
